Impact Doors in Kendall:
Protect Every Opening
Your impact windows can be perfect and still leave you exposed if the sliding-glass door is the weak point. Doors are openings too, and on the wind-mitigation form, openings are scored all together. We’re Blue Lagoon-based, we install entry, sliding-glass, and french impact doors to the NOA, and we install them as the full assembly they actually are.

Why doors are the opening people forget
Most Kendall homeowners think “impact windows” and stop there. But a standard sliding-glass door or a hollow entry door is often the largest and weakest opening in the house. In a storm, once an opening fails, the pressure that gets inside is what lifts roofs. The honest framing isn’t “windows or doors,” it’s every opening, to the same standard.
A door is an assembly, not a slab
The impact rating lives in the whole system: frame, buck, anchors, glass, and a multi-point lock that pulls the door tight at several points instead of one. A great door anchored into a rotten buck isn’t a great door anymore. In older Kendall homes we frequently find out-of-square or deteriorated bucks, so part of our job is making the opening right before the new door goes in. That’s the difference between a door that passes inspection and one that just looks the part.
Our 7-step Kendall impact-door workflow
Measure to final inspection, installed as the full assembly, because that’s where the rating actually lives.
1. Call & measure every door opening
We measure your entry, sliding-glass, and french openings on-site. Door openings are less forgiving than windows. Out-of-square frames and bad thresholds are common in older Kendall homes, and we’d rather catch that now.
2. The all-openings assessment
We look at doors in the context of the whole house, because the wind-mitigation credit treats every opening together. A protected window next to an unprotected sliding-glass door doesn’t get you there.
3. NOA product selection
Large-missile NOA-rated doors: PGT WinDoor and the impact door lines from ECO and ES, matched to the opening type, your budget, and HOA style rules.
4. Written quote
Line-item, products and NOA named, no pressure pricing.
5. RER permit & product-approval docs
We pull the Miami-Dade RER permit and build the NOA / Florida Product Approval file, plus any HOA submittal.
6. Installation — the assembly, not just the slab
An impact door is a system: frame, buck, anchors, multi-point lock, sill and threshold. We anchor and seal to the NOA so the whole assembly performs, then adjust the lock and sweep so it actually closes right.
7. Final inspection & your packet
County final, then your packet: permit close-out, NOA sheets, product-approval numbers, ready for the independent wind-mitigation inspection.
